You know you've hit your mark when you can give the barest hint of something and someone picks it up immediately. When I read the first line of the 'stranger' I immediately thought of Heiji; and when he seemed to start to be a little too thoughtful to be Heiji, I thought of Kaito. ^_^
The interactions between the guys in your writing just seems to be so perfectly 'right'. Maybe as a 'next' project, you could do 30 friends(?) for Conan/Shinichi & Kaito/Kid, could be interesting exploration at least.
As for the story itself, greatness. Worthy of the calibur of artist you are. ^_^
