While I rather doubt that (:P) it's not my place to question questionable searches, nor is it really an issue. From the start I had hoped that the story was based on research and not experience although I think your stories speak for themselves that even if that weren't the case, it wouldn't change my opinion of you heh.
The fact that Luke has to re earn the trust just makes the story that much more poignant, even if we never actually see it being rebuilt.
And the fact that Layton ends with saying 'I don't hate you' fits so well into the Father-Son mold they fit into.
